Welcome to Care Essentials Kits
Immediate basics that help children feel safe, cared for, and prepared during placement changes or entry into care.
Who qualifies: Youth ages 0–17 currently in foster care in Tarrant County, including new and emergency placements.
Turnaround: 48–72 hour goal for urgent needs
What's included
- Hygiene basics and hair-care items
- Underwear, socks, pajamas, and basic outfits
- Comfort items — blankets, bedding, stuffed animals, sensory tools
- School support — backpack, supplies, lunch kit
Growth Grants
Small grants that let foster youth take part in school and community life with confidence and consistency.
Who qualifies: Youth ages 0–17 in foster care in Tarrant County with a documented school, clothing, or activity need.
Turnaround: 7–10 day decision goal, faster when time-sensitive
What's included
- Clothing and shoes for school or seasonal needs
- Sports and extracurricular fees, uniforms, equipment
- Field trips, school supplies, and club fees
- Confidence items — haircuts, interview clothes for older teens
Launchpad (Ages 16–21)
Practical readiness for adulthood through skills, support, and resources for teens and young adults transitioning out of care.
Who qualifies: Youth ages 16–21 in foster care or aging out in Tarrant County.
Turnaround: Monthly workshop plus optional 1:1 coaching
What's included
- Resume building and interview prep
- Budgeting basics — paychecks, savings, bills, credit
- Life-skills coaching and self-advocacy
- Document readiness (ID, birth certificate, SS card via referrals)
